可以在定语从句中（主语为人或物的都可以）
当然有几种情况只能用that
1、有序数词或最高级
2、含有only
3、who
的疑问句中
4、既有人又有物
不能用that的是后面有介词
只能用which

that引导定语从句，在从句中做主语、宾语或表语。
如：It

for.
The

that
is
speaking
to
Jim
is
our
new
teacher.
2.
that
引导名词性从句
That
Jim
won
the
game
excited
us
all.(引导主语从句）
I
know
that
Tom
is
a
teacher.(引导宾语从句，that
可省略）
The
problem
is
that
we
don't
have
so
much
money.(引导表语从句）
The
news
that
Jim
won
the
game

us
