　　Yangjiang is an uprising city by the South China Sea.

　　Its upgrading into a city in 1988 was followed by its jurisdiction over Yangdong County ,Yangxi County and Jiangcheng District and its establishment of the economic development experimental zone, high-tech zone and Gangqiao Adminstraion Zone in Hailing Island,as well as its governing Yangchun city as an acting administrative organ. 　　Location: Yangjiang is a coastal city in southwestern Guangdong Province, facing southward to the South China Sea. Close to the Pearl River Delta, The city is 247 and 160 kilometers (153 and 99 miles) from Guangzhou and Zhuhai. By water, it is 143 and 129 sea miles (265 and 239 kilometers) from Hong Kong and Macau.

　　History: According to archeological discovery, human settlers first came to Yangjiang ten thousand years ago. Like other regions in Guangdong, it was conquered by the Qin (221BC-206BC) Court belong to the shires established there. As its location became increasingly important, Yangjiang had been elevated from a county to a shire by the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220).
　　Physical Features: Main terrain of Yangjiang descends from the north to the south. It has two mountains standing in the northeast and northwest. Within the territory, the city's zenith is the Ehuangzhang of the Wangfu Mountains. Furthermore, Yangjiang has thirty islands in total bearing a coastline of 342 kilometers (213 miles).

　　Climatic Features: Situated in subtropical zone, the city holds temperate weather and abundant rainfall. The extreme heat may emerge in August. Summer is long and hot, lasting from mid-April to late October. Typhoon and rainstorm usually happen in summer and autumn.

　　When to Go: Without chilly winter, Yangjiang is an all year round tourist destination.

　　Scenic Spots:
　　Lingxiao Rock: The scenic spot is located in Hetulang Town, northwest of Yangchun City. Reputed as the ‘number one cave in South China', this limestone cave is divided into three layers with a total height of over 120 meters (394 feet). It is a masterpiece by nature. Sceneries in the cave are fascinating as in fairyland.
　　Silver Beach: In southwest of the Hailing Island is a 7.4 kilometers (4.6 miles) silver beach, a hot summer resort of Yangjiang City.
　　Dajiao Bay: Dajiao Bay in southeast Zhapo Town is the most famous attraction of the Hailing Island. It is surrounded by mountains in three directions in shape of a buffalo horn, hence its name.

　　Tourist Tips:
　　1. Yangjiang has a fine transport network. It is ten minutes' drive to the airport and a bit more than an hour from the railway station in Yangchun City. Yangjiang Heshan Airport stands in Heshan Town, 17 kilometers (11 miles) from the Yangdong County. Currently, the airport only operates flight routes to Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
　　2. From Guangzhou, Hailing Island can be reached in three hours. It is nearer from Zhuhai and Hong Kong, only one and half hours needed. Yangjiang's passenger transport bus station is at the juncture between Xiping Road (North) and Jingshan highway. Intercity and interprovincial bus routes are both available there, together with internal routes.
