问题一 见（4）
副词用作介词宾语不算普通，主要见于以下特殊情况：
(1) 疑问副词用作介词宾词，不过这样用时，介词通常可以省略。如：
Where are you going (to)? 你去哪儿?
(2) 某些表地点的副词作用介词的宾语。如：
① 副词here和there用作along, around, down, in, near, on, over, round, through, under, up等介词的宾语。如：
Your hotel is quite near here. 你的旅馆离这儿很近。
I want to ask a question of that man over there. 我想问那边那个人一个问题。
② 副词home用作at, (away) from, close to, near, toward(s) 等的宾语。如：
We were driving towards home when we saw the accident. 我们在开车回家的路上目睹了一起车祸。
③ 副词abroad只用用作from的宾语，如：
I’ve got a letter from abroad. 我收到一封国外的来信。
④ 介词from后接behind, downstairs, upstairs, inside, outside, above, below, beneath, underneath, indoors, outdoors, within等表示地点的副词作宾语。如：
The enemy attacked us from behind. 敌人从后面袭击了我们。
The door was suddenly opened from within. 门突然从里面开了。
(3) 某些表时间的副词作用介词的宾语。
① after后接today, tomorrow等作宾语。② before后接long, yesterday等作宾语。
③ by后接now, tomorrow, then等作宾语。④ for后接today, now, once, ever, long作宾语。
⑤ from后接now, today, tomorrow等作宾语。
⑥ since后接lately, recently, then, yesterday等作宾语。
⑦ till, until后接recently, then, now, tomorrow, late, later等作宾语。
(4) 在某些固定搭配中，偶尔也有副词用用介词的宾语。如：
They worked all day and had a hurried lunch in between. 他们工作了一整天，中间匆匆吃了一顿饭。

问题二1) lay off:解雇, 停止工作, 休息, 划出
2)lay off sb:不在做打扰人，讨人厌的等的事 此时lay 为不及物动词 不允许将sb放中间
例：住手！你把我的头发都弄乱了！
Lay off!You're messing up my hair!
3) lay off sth:不在做或使用有害的事物等
例：我抽烟很多年了，现在打算戒了！
I've smoked cigrettes for years,but now I'm going to lay off them.
4)lay sb off:解雇工人（短期） lay为及物动词 当宾语不是代词是sb可置于中间可放后边，是代词时放中间，off是副词。
例：由于没有新的定货，他们遭暂时的解雇。
They were laid off because of the lack of new orders

★其实和词性或句子结构没有什么关系 是个词组~本句只是把它放在了后面而已~
例：
☆ In between, they cut deals with the British.
☆在中间，他们分割对待英国人。

二、
★lay sb off：解雇

☆lay off sb.是不可以用的，只能用lay sb. off.
☆这个就和 只能用 turn it off 而不能用 turn off it

一、The house is near a park, but there is a road in between省略了(the house and the park).

in between
在…之间；在中间在(…)中间；介乎两者之间；每间隔在期…间
二、lay off和put on相似，put on your clothes和put your clothes on没什么区别

In between是一个词组，固定搭配，表示在两者之间 ;进退两难;有时要看语境
两个句子中，lay sb. off和lay off sb.是一个的意思,没有区别，只是如果出现人称代词him,her,me,them,us这种情况下，lay off sb.不可用，只能用lay sb. off.
