General absorption:If the absorption extent of various lights with wavelength λ are equal ,that is to say the absorption factor has nothing to do with λ ,it's called general absorption.It denotes that the beacon of light just changes its intensity with the general absorption in the visible light range,and it doesn't change its color.For example ,air ,pure gas ,flint glass etc can occur the general absorption in the visible light range.

Selective absorption:when the materials has a fairly strong absorption of some particular wavelength light, it's called selective absorption.The white light will become colorama when it conducts the selective absorption,it suggests that numerous substances emerge their color because their surfaces or internals conduct the selective absorption to light.
