这些美好不会消逝
The pure.the bright,the beautiful, 一切纯洁的,辉煌的,美丽的,
That stirred our hearts in youth, 强烈地震撼着我们年轻的心灵的,
The impulses to wordless prayer, 推动着我们做无言的祷告的,
The dreams of love and truth; 让我们梦想着爱与真理的;
The longing after something‘s lost, 在失去后为之感到珍惜的,
The spirit‘s yearning cry, 使灵魂深切地呼喊着的,
The striving after better hopes- 为了更美好的梦想而奋斗着的-
These things can never die. 这些美好不会消逝。

The timid hand stretched forth to aid 羞怯地伸出援助的手，
A brother in his need, 在你的弟兄需要的时候，
A kindly word in grief‘s dark hour 伤恸、困难的时候，一句亲切的话
That proves a friend indeed ; 就足以证明朋友的真心；

Youth
Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind; it is not rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions: it is the freshness; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.
青春不是指岁月，而是指心态。粉嫩的脸，红润的唇，矫健的膝并不是青春。青春表现在意志的坚强与懦弱,想象的丰富与苍白、情感的充沛与贫乏等方面。青春是生命深处清泉的喷涌。
Youth means a temperamental predominance

of courage over timidity of the appetite, for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.
青春是追求。只有当勇气盖过怯弱、进取压倒苟安之时，青春才存在。果如此，则60见之长者比20岁之少年更具青春活力。仅仅岁月的流逝并不能使他们衰老。而一旦抛弃理想和信念，则垂老也。

–distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.

Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young.

It is said that English people are conservative because there are too small differences between the seasons in Britain .They have no climate but changeable weather. Grassland is green all the year round .In daily life ,English people often refuse to make sudden changes. They still measure things in feet, pounds, and gallons, though the European Union has made metric measures for most things. They think old buildings are the greatest places for offices. Many historic towns, villages ,cathedrals, site of interest and buildings in different architectural styles throughout the centuries have been preserved.

British people don’t think insects ,dogs ,cats or monkeys are food. The Scotsmen have their national costume, ”kilts”. They play special musical instruments called “Bagpipes” .The Welsh are all excellent singers, and eat leeks all the time. The Irish drinks lots and lots of Guinness.
