One advantage to volunteerism is that it exposes undergrads to a variety of scenarios and circumstances. Many students have been too sheltered and pampered at home. Joining volunterr work will ensure that they are able to learn the ropes of life and also embark on new journeys to discover their potential in life. Also, they forge lifelong friendships during these periods.

However, volunteerism is not all a bed of roses. Usually, students are required to be able to manage their time properly in order to cope with their life, their studies and the work assigned. It may be difficult for the student to handle so many tasks at the same time. Also, a lot of volunteer work may involve the student having to venture out to the far and unknown lands where their safety may be compromised. Thus, volunteering work isn't always as easy as it seems to be.
