许多油气藏在形成之后,由于受到后期构造运动的影响,会受到破坏,造成油气的散失。在裂谷盆地中,陡坡带和缓坡带高部位受构造作用的影响较大,但近源的近岸区是构造活动破坏较弱的部位,同时,该部位也是地层岩性圈闭最有利的发育部位,常常有滩坝或大型三角洲前缘等各类扇体的发育,形成不同成因类型的砂体。这些砂体一旦有油气注入,就可能形成单独的地层岩性油气藏。构造活动对岩性油气藏的改造往往只是改变它的翘倾产状,从而导致砂体内部油水界面的变化,较少使整个圈闭遭受破坏。

影响油气藏保存的地质因素主要包括成藏期后构造抬升剥蚀和断裂活动。构造油气藏明显受到这两个因素的影响,而地层岩性油气藏受此影响较弱,因此,地层岩性油气藏保存条件优于构造油气藏。

成藏期后构造抬升剥蚀将会产生两种影响,其一是抬升剥蚀造成盖层孔隙增加(压实反弹),盖层排替压力下降,盖层的封盖能力减弱,致使部分油气扩散;其二是抬升剥蚀造成原先的超压层段高压消失变为静压,盖层的超压封闭作用丧失,引起油气藏的破坏。

成藏期后断裂活动往往直接影响着油气藏的保存与演化。断层对油气藏的保存与破坏程度还与断层发育的具体位置关系很大。断裂活动的影响可破坏盖层的连续性与完整性,同时,与断层有关的圈闭(如断块、背斜、断鼻等)中的断裂重新活动,导致断层的开启。当断裂作用只是在一个油气藏内部发生,可以使得油气由下部油层向上散失,结果造成油气由一个油层分为多个油层含油。而断裂活动形成了通天断裂,使油气藏中的油气散失,造成了油气藏的破坏。
